The High Court today rejected a bail petition filed by suspended Biman Bangladesh Airlines' co-pilot, Sabbir Enam, in a case filed for planning to hit the residence of the prime minister with an aircraft in 2017.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman delivered the rejection order considering that the petition was not presented before it properly.

Sabbir's lawyer, Md Kamal Parvez told The Daily Star that they (lawyers for Sabbir) requested the HC to pass a rejection order as the court was reluctant to grant him bail in the case at this moment.

Sabbir Enam is now in a Kashimpur Jail, Kamal said, adding that all other accused of the case are now on bail.

The lawyer said the name of Sabbir was not mentioned in the first information report of the case filed with Darussalam Police Station on September 8, 2017.

Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar told The Daily Star that the HC refused to grant bail to Sabbir Enam as he confessed to a magistrate of planning to hit the residence of the prime minister with an aircraft.

Rab arrested Sabbir, his mother Sultana Parvin, their relative Asifur Rahman Asif, and local tea-stall owner Alam after raiding several places of Mirpur on October 31, 2017 in connection with the case.
